Noir everywhere
Photographs by Jim Thomsen
One person’s November is not only another person’s Movember but another person’s Noirvember: a reminder that the sinister can always be found in the seemingly mundane, and I choose to see the darkness through a tiny thread of light … aka, black humor. This is how I choose to persevere, and maybe in these images you’ll find something beyond the bleak.

Jim Thomsen is a native of Bainbridge Island who now lives in Kingston. He works as an internal book reviewer for Amazon’s Kindle Vella serial-story project, as well as a manuscript editor, by day. By night, he reads crime fiction with a noir bent and prowls the streets in search of the intriguing interplay of light and shadow, searching out the sinister in the seemingly sedate … with a sneaky sense of humor, hopefully.
